About the Crew
Captain Ben is originally from the far north of New Zealand. Ben began his maritime career early, thanks to his skipper father. His early days were spent on deck, working on commercial sports fishing boats.
Ben quickly earned his NZ skipper’s ticket and advanced to a skipper role at a young age. He spent a significant portion of his career as a master at Auckland’s fullers ferries, gaining experience in commanding a wide variety of vessels, including larger passenger ships accommodating up to 650 people. He also holds the NZ MEC 5 qualification, allowing him to cover engineering roles on various vessels.
With nearly 15 years of experience, Ben has commanded commercial passenger vessels, motor yachts, commercial sports fishing vessels, and a range of pleasure crafts. His heart now lies in the yachting industry, where he envisions his future. He’s drawn to the lifestyle and travel opportunities it offers, and his passion for the sea drives him to continuously acquire qualifications and share knowledge with fellow crew members.
Beyond his maritime pursuits, Ben keeps fit at the gym, enjoys following sports, and is always up for outdoor adventures. Traveling is a big part of his life, and whenever he gets the chance, he explores the world to see what it has to offer.
